Ha! I crocheted myself a delicate and pretty scarf.
While I was sitting looping the soft bamboo yarn through my hook I said out loud "I cannot remember the last time I made myself something"
My big girl (model) said "you made yourself a pin cushion the other week"
Ah yes, so I did, but I hardly think that counts.
Anyway because I am so pleased with how it looks I am going to indulge myself with a few more pictures of it (and because I can hardly believe I made anything as beautiful as my daughter, you can see some more of her too).
Be inspired ~ make something for yourself. See what a few hours of crochet can achieve.
The pattern is from the book Stitch and Bitch Crochet ~ the Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller

Gorgeous (both of them) you clever thing!
It's lovely! I had a chuckle about the pin cushion, but no, probably not to be counted! I have very basic crochet skills and had actually been wanting to make myself a scarf so thanks for the inspiration!
That looks deliciously soft. Love bamboo....and I love that you made something/s for yourself :) x
Beautiful scarf and beautiful daughter too....it is so nice to make something for yourself every now and then....I too just knitted myself a scarf but the weather hasn't been as cold down here in Mullumbimby since..oh well I am sure it will change again.

How pretty! And the model just makes the whole thing that much more gorgeous!
Daughters are rather cool, I love mine, cheers Marie
DA..this IS very basic crochet skills in action. The whole thing after the inital chain is double crochet (the American term...I think that makes it triple here but I get confused).
Jo, it is not really cold heer either but then it is not a very warm scarf so I get away with it.
Thank you all for your comments, it is so lovely not to be talking to myself.
Beautiful, both. And a happy birthday present for yourself too. Happy, happy for Tuesday my daughter. I remember your birth extremely well! themother
Just gorgeous. It's so nourishing to make things for those we love that we can forget to make things for ourselves - thanks for the reminder!
Yes you are very clever - thats a gorgeous creation. Oh and the scarf is very nice too!! Funny how we tend to make very useful things for ourselves - like pincushions and ironing board covers - and pretty things for those we love!?!?
Greetings from South Africa.
I just came across your blog and loving it. I am a home schooling mom and not strictly Waldorf but really liking your crafting and felt things. I am a knitter and also can not remember when I made myself something. I need to finish the queue of things I have at the moment first.Never quite seems enough time in the day. ( My daughter also wears her amber necklace even though she is older, i think it looks so pretty on them)
Yes, the scarf is lovely but can hardly compare with the beautiful child which you made, too!
