I have danced the dance and jumped through the flaming hoops and now...

I am notated as:

"An eligible midwife competent to provide pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatal care and qualified to provide the associated services and order diagnostic tests and investigations required for midwifery practice in accordance with relevant state and territory legislation" under section 225(p) of the National Law.

Well I already knew all that but the really good news is that now I am also eligible for a Medicare provider number... This my friends means that women can claim for private midwifery services... Not a bad thing at all.

And my friend boldly birthed her forth child in the wee hours of this morning; today is a very good day indeed.

Ta!
Bianca, I have always attended women birthing at home... so essentially nothing has changed for me BUT for women it means they can get a government funded rebate on their pregnancy and postnatal care.

Congratulations! That is such a wonderful thing. Here where I live medicare will not cover any midwifery services... Awesome that they will there!

Fabulous news! We are similarly blessed here, where our government covers midwife care (though I've met many woman don't realize that this is the case).

And congratulations to your friend on the birth of her fourth!

Well, too danged bad I already birthed all of mine. Although, I have to say that I'd have to call you fairly early in the process in order to get you here on time. Blessed are the women who get to have you catch the life they escort into this world. And happy children who start life out with such a person in such a way.
