Here is one of my all time favourite pictures of my beautiful big girl when she was just three. She was no longer breastfed herself, and she didn't have any siblings then, but she was the child of a homebirth midwife and spent a large part of her week visiting new mothers and babies; so feeding her babies came very naturally (I think several of her wee dolls are still breastfed now and she is nine)
And because this picture has sent me whirling joyfully down memory lane I thought i would post one of the colour versions too
Thank you Linda :)

That is so beautiful! Apparently my husband used to nurse a doll (or stuffed bear?) when he was young. My oldest has never shown a desire to play mom. Not sure what my younger two will do - they're both still breastfeeding.
That is a precious picture...and moment.
love it!! she is so intent and absorbed. thanks for sharing. ;)
Oh Shannon, how wonderful! These photos are so precious and remind me of my girls who are big now:) I am so happy you have joined B & W Wednesday, thank you:)
Take care
Linda
SO precious....
My kids did the same, actually I did once catch my (then) 3 y/o daughter trying to attach her 1 y/o brother!
How sweet and such a truthful imitation - just love the way she is looking at her baby.

Just found your blog and I have been happily jumping around and catching up. I love this post so much because my little girl did the same thing with her dolls/stuffed animals when her little brother was born! Only she would also wince every once in a while and say "ow" because her brother was an early terrier and avid biter ;-)
I wonder if you would let me use the beautiful photo of your daughter breastfeeding her doll (black and white) as the background of a button to give to all of the nurses at my maternity hospital, with the slogan "8 or more in 24" overlaying the photo. thanks for considering my request...
Of course Melanie, What a great slogan. Would you be able to send me a button please? my email address is rhythmrhymeblog@gmail.com I have a friend in the US you could post it to?
