These swaddle dolls, like their makers, each have their own personality ~ some are sleeping, others are wide awake, some are snuggled tightly, others prefer looser wraps, some tiny, others buxom. I love them all.
They are very simple really and quite a few of us completed our dolls in the three hours set aside for crafting before the younger children finished their half school day. A few still had pins in them - neat stiches will replace them soon enough.

Am I the only one who wishes they lived closer and could slip into these crafting sessions? I love these little swaddled dolls. What clever mamas!
ohhh, beautiful! I love the rainbow wool!
Dear Shannon,
These are too cute.
Can you give a bit more detatil on how to make them. I love them so much
Blessings
Gae
Those are great! Are they just stuffed with wool or did you weight them, too?
Dear Gae - I knew someone would ask. We sold all our kits so at the moment I don't have a spare to make a tutorial with. I will tho, maybe in the holidays - which is only a few weeks away.
if you know how to make a head - you are halfway there tho - make a VERY thick neck and a tube body - stuffed firmly but still cuddly. and then just play with your felt til you get the wrapping you like - then whip stitch it closed.
Sorry Ediolons - just wool.
Hi, I'm fairly new to your blog. :) These are darling. Do you dye your rainbow felt, or purchase it? I'm looking for a good supplier for rainbow felt. Much appreciated!
Suzie
loveable. the rainbow felt makes it much more!
thanks for sharing
I love these! I actually squealed when I saw the photos, bringing two of my kids running to the computer. I really love that rainbow felt!
Oh, how sweet. I must put these on my to make list :)
Re: the rainbow felt ~ we did actually dye this stuff ourselves at the end of last year see this post http://motherrhythm.blogspot.com/2010/09/wednesday-craft-group_08.html
but there are places selling rainbow felt already dyed for you. In Australia Indigo inspirations http://www.indigoinspirations.net.au/wool_felt.html and Winterwood toys http://www.winterwoodtoys.com.au/shop/scditem.asp?ProdID=62
both have it.
Google and see what you can find locally or have fun in the sun and do some dying. :)
Love, love, love these beautiful dolls! Thankyou so much for sharing!
I also wish that I lived close enough I attend weekly classes like this. Shannon how can the Mamas bear to part with all their beautiful work?
Ah Ronnie ~ most don't! Other steiner schools I have been involved with have a policy that everything made a craft group stays at craft group; participants get new skills and new friends. But for some reason this school is quite different. The vast majority make only for themselves. There are a few of us tho that make two or three (or 10 or 20) of everything so we have plenty to sell at the fair.
Beautiful!
Shannon these are just gorgeous! I am so excited to make one, or two :) Thanks for the inspiration. x
How gorgeous Shannon! The rainbow felt is amazing:)

Just followed this from Pinterest , I so love them. I have no talent for sewing with a pattern let alone without one but I will try. So beautiful and inspiring :)
