Gone midwifing

The girls and I are on a plane on the way to Sydney...we have gone to wait the arrival of a wee babe. It was an offer I couldn't refuse; to hold the space for a woman, to remind her of her strength, to witness my cousin give birth to her third child...made extra special because I was there with her for babies one and two.

I'll be staying with my mum, plan to catch up with my sister and a bunch of friends..might even drive to Canberra if the wee one arrives earlier rather than later. I don't know what internet connection is like where we will be sitting and waiting so I don't know what kind of blogging I will do, if any.

I have packed my bags with three knitting projects, some crochet...even a couple of books!

See you in a fortnight.

Oh...and today is the international day of the midwife so smile at yours today.

What an exciting time. Your cousin is very lucky to have you to be there for her. I wish I had had such support while I was in labour (other than that which a husband gives)....hopefully next time.

We are having beautiful autumn weather here in Sydney, so hope you enjoy your stay.

Sending smiles your way :)

Had a doula, not a midwife (and had a C-section anyhow, but that's a story for another time...) So, all that to say, I'll just go ahead and smile at you, my friend (since, these days, you are my favorite midwife!)

Ah! thank you all. little gnome it is glorious weather, tho a wee chilly in the evening for our northern bones. Hey Bloom midwives do CS births too, we make them lovely with early skin to skin and all the fuzzy bits and a good Doula is is worth their weight in gold.
