Dear All,
Our little craft stall at this year's school fair made quite a bit of money; the school has just built a beautful, and quite empty new library. Sooooo would you please share with me you favourite children's books, craft books and classics. We have about $1000 to spend and the Australian dollar is all but 1:1 with the US so now is the time to buy!
Our Steiner school is prep to year 12 (ages 4 to 18), I would especially like to include some children's/young adult craft books in our donation.... looking forward to seeing your suggestions.
The big girl and I finished reading Seven Little Australians by Ethel Turner on Friday night; we both sobbed ourselves to sleep - a wonderful book but oh so tragic; the ending was quite unexpected really - at least to me. My poor girl kept putting her hands over the pages and asking me to stop reading because she just couldn't bear hearing anymore and then, wanting to hear more would ask "how much more?"
We are now reading a beautifully illustrated version of The Secret Garden by Frances Burnett - so far no tears (despite the cholera outbreak).

What a wonderful donation.
Take a look at http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/
Free shipping worldwide and the best prices on books. I have bought many lovely steiner/ waldorf inspired books for my daughter including many waldorf craft books.
Natalie :)
What goes around comes around! My dad (your grandfather) interviewed Ethel Turner, author of Seven Little Australians, when it first came out and he was then the father of seven little Australians. She signed a copy for him, and someone borrowed it and never returned it.
It might have been an heirloom by now, if we still had it.

All the ones we've tried have been really clear and the projects quite do able (if that makes sense)
If you can get this book it's several of the above series bound as one volume (sewing, knitting, crochet and embroidery if I remember right) so great value

You have such a lovely blog, glad I found it. A children's craft book that I really enjoy is Earthways: Simple environmental activeties for young children by Carol Petrash. It is organized by season and the crafts are amazing. I don't think it is in print but you can get it used from amazon.
Thank you so much Val - you are very kind :)
and to you Melissa and Angela too.
Hello Good.. I think to make angles you do it the same way , without a beak, maybe add a little twisted fleece halo? and hang vertically from the top of the head rather from the middle of the back? - have a fiddle :)
Thanks Shannon (belated) have just listened again to the secret garden
